The Story of Grandma Hiko: Hina Dolls and the First Doll Festival: Yuria-chan from Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture
We were able to celebrate the first Hinamatsuri with a cute Hina doll.
I will treasure it. Thank you.

I heard Grandma Hiko's story about Hinamatsuri from her childhood.
In the old days, people would go around to the houses of their neighbors to see the Hina dolls, and children would receive kirisensho and ohagi as gifts!
We all sang Hinamatsuri songs while looking at the cute Hina dolls!

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!
My name is Tsujii and I am a staff member at Hinasei.
So that's the custom that your grandmother told you when she was little.
What I found most reassuring was that the customs and culture unique to this region, where Hina Matsuri has a longer history than we do, is being carefully passed down and cherished.
I was also delighted to learn about the historical background behind why Hina dolls are so cherished.
I learned that Hinamatsuri was a festival for children to enjoy in the neighborhood.
It looks like a really fun festival!
Everyone was looking at the dolls and singing songs...
I don't think this is a custom that exists anymore, but it made me feel warm and fuzzy as I thought of the good old days of Japan.
Hinamatsuri is a festival to celebrate the healthy growth of girls.
For mothers, grandmothers and other mothers, it is an important day that brings back memories of their childhood.
I'm sure when Yuria grows up, she will reminisce about her own childhood while looking at the Hina dolls.
Thank you very much for this opportunity.
