Authentic Hina Dolls: Skill is the accumulation of experience
The work of making Hina dolls and May dolls is very seasonal.
So most people don't do this job very often.
However, at Hinasei's workshop, conversations within the factory grounds use industry jargon in the form of old, technical terms.
Furthermore, conversations with manufacturing business partners, suppliers, and customers are, of course, full of technical terms.
At Hinasei Kobo, the more experienced staff members will take the hands of the juniors and teach them what part of the overall process they are doing, and what part of the work they are doing.
Once you understand and are taught, practice it slowly and immediately.
Once you practice, you understand the flow of work and think about whether that work is part of it. Understand. Then practice again. Practice. Repeat the practice process over and over again.
The accumulation of experience is the path to mastery.
What we will convey is the system and flow
Once you reach a certain level, you will then become a teacher.
The main purpose of the skilled workers who are teaching is not just to teach them how to do things, but to make sure they understand the system and the process. Rather than teaching or conveying an understanding of how to do things, we place emphasis on what part of the job it is from the perspective of the whole, and whether it is a task. This is how Hinasei's techniques are passed down.
This system is what transmits technology and craftsmanship.
It is an accumulation of traditional techniques.
Completely different work depending on the season
At Hinasei's workshop, the work changes completely depending on the season.
During the busy season from January to April, we mainly prepare and pack the ordered Hina dolls and May dolls for delivery. During the off-season, we plan production and arrange production from that flow from June to November.
Recently, an internet business division has also been established, producing catalogues for Hina dolls and May dolls.
That's why I take photos and edit them.

By bringing this into an in-house system rather than outsourcing, we have been able to significantly reduce costs, and we have also built a model in which the craftsmen themselves sell directly.
